Caterpillar Room (0-2yrs) |
Our room caters for 10 children daily. The room has 3 staff each day offering high child to staff ratios, above the minimum requirements. Staff within the room are experienced with various levels of training, lots of experience in the child care industry, and many are parents themselves. The majority of our staff team have been with our child care service for many years, offering consistency for families and children. With only 10 children each day our room offers a small, personal group for the children and families to be a part of.
Our daily program and routine is flexible to cater for the individual needs of each child. As the children in this room vary greatly in age and development level, each child's routine is a key focus. We aim to maintain consistency between the child's home environment and the centre.
Activities within the room are planned based on each child's interests and skill level. Each child has a portfolio where staff document their journey at Six Hats, their learning and their friendships. This portfolio is yours to keep at the conclusion of your child's time with us.
The service philosophy and planning process is based firmly in the children ‘learning through play and in harmony with each other, the environment, staff and families’.
Families can see photos and details of their child's day through reading the room program on our computer each day. Information about sleeping, eating and nappy changes is also provided for you to read when you collect your child. Staff value family involvement in all aspects of the program. Many parents and grandparents enjoy dropping in for a visit during the day.
We believe that in the Caterpillar room children need adult interaction within a play situation or in the completion of routine times. It is important at this age that children are included in discussion, sung to, respected for what they are capable of doing and encouraged to be who they are, not who we think they should be.
